Happy Belated Birthday…

Well yesterday was Alan Turing’s birthday. I would have said something sooner but this is the first time I’ve really had a chance to write. In case you didn’t notice the Featured Content Gallery (thingy at the top with pictures that show up and disappear) was not working. Being that I’m trying to make this site as best as I can I basically devoted two full nights till ad nauseum to fix it. Which as you can tell is fixed. If I never see another line of php, or jquery it will be too soon. Anyways-Happy Birthday Alan, your gone but never forgotten. Now lets down to brass tacks.

Alan Turing (23 June, 1912 – 7 June, 1954), was a brilliant mathematician, logician, and cryptanalyst (code breaker). He also so happened to be an open homosexual in a time and place where it was illegal (the UK) and condemned because of it, even criminally charged. The same crime Oscar Wilde was convicted of about 48 years earlier. How very dandy! However he lived his life, he is the creator of the Turing Test, the famous test to tell whether your talking to Artificial Intelligence or a human. Alan is considered too be the “father of computer science”. I mean the man built a computer program to play chess with, and there wasn’t even a powerful enough computer. He had to wait for one to be built. His life is slightly shrouded in mystery being that he was involved with Bletchley Park (look it up). Even his death by cyanide may not be accurate due to his prior work, but the world may never know. We do know that Alan Turing is one of the greatest minds of the 20th century, and a personal hero of mine. So Happy Birthday Alan, if you we’re here I’d give you a hug, but don’t touch my butt. Again…

If you know anything about computer companies and how they got there names. We have this man to thank.
