So Elonex has finally put out its small but powerful eBook reader. Sure there are other eBook readers out there, such as Amazon’s, and Sony’s, even the iPhone. This one however boasts a 6″ screen, is 9-millimeters thick and a 4 gig expansion slot to boot. The eBook reader will hold about 8,000 books, which is more than enough books if you ask me. Sadly this only available to UK consumers right now through Borders bookstores. With the popularity of the who’s who in eBook readers I’m sure we’ll be seeing this in the US within the year.

It runs $189 pounds in the UK, or $311 US Dollars. This may seem a bit pricey for it being a fairly unknown brand however you get to download 100 eBooks free from Borders, and a charger and data cable. Yes, I know a data cable and charger are not those impressive. Your grandmother got one with her hand crank personal massager but a hundred free eBooks is though. From Amazon they run about 10 bucks a pop. So if you’re a serious reader who has yet to discover how to “borrow” eBooks from torrent sites then this is probably your best bet. There’s no official release date for the US, but its on its way rest assured. Perhaps as far away from the hand crank personal massager as possible.

You maybe be thinking “I should read more” or “I really should get off this page and meet a real live girl/boy “, for the rest of us thinking “I don’t know which e-book reader to buy” this may be the solution your looking for. Now I love the feel of a book, almost obsessively. However with taking books here and there they get destroyed. So an e-book reader may be in my future. However which one should I buy. I already have an iPhone. I find the screen to small for adecuate reading, and if i enlarge the text in turning the page every nano second. The Kindle is just too damn expensive for my tastes. This is where the Interead’s Cool-er comes into play. At about 100 bones less than Kindle, and boasting a more open to accepting different file fomats, and 8 differerent colors. I feel they may give Amazon a run for the money.
The Cool-er is lighter, has a book store you connect too, and has the same screen size as the Kindle 2. Cool-er beats the kindle in memory space with an SD slot, and a replaceable battery for a whopping 5 dollars. This might be the e-reader of the future.

Word on the street is that Apple is in development of a tablet computer. A hybrid of the Macbook and an iPhone which is scheduled to drop in 2010. This by the way is a rumor. Like Apple would come out with a phone in the early 2000′s. So I’m game to believe. The idea is that it’d be better for surfing the Web, watching movies, and reading books than the iPod or iPhone, but not powerful enough that it would crush notebook sales.
Apple is also rumored to be partnering with Verizon Wireless for some other mobile devices that are planned for release in 2010 as well. The bigger iPhone type device most likely is to compete with the Amazon’s Kindle.
As Apple first then PC user, I think Apple is slacking here. They could have had my money for the tablet, but Apples lose is MSI’s gain. However I can ‘t wait for these products. VIVA LA APPLE!!

Viva La APPLE!!!!
